What does Dr. Weiss mean by "drawing the line"? He states that it is "simply a way to quickly set up an artificial situation that's virtually guaranteed to push your kids' buttons." It won't take long for the children to show their behavior problem and then you can "draw the line".
Dr. Weiss lists ten steps to constructive discipline. The first step is to identify your child's target behavior. I believe this is probably the most important step. This is the beginning to finding a solution to correct the behavior. Once you are specific as to the exact behavior problem, you can move on to the other steps.
Dr. Weiss also gives us many scenarios as we go along through the process where he describes a real life situation involving the problem behavior. The reader will feel like you are right there and Dr. Weiss is explaining the situation.
This book is written in a format that is easy to understand. Parents who are having difficulty with their children and are about ready to give up will be delighted to read this book. The book also includes worksheets that parents can use to chart their progress as they continue along in the process.
This book is an excellent guide for parents. It is highly recommended.
