BOOK REVIEW: THE OLIVE HORSESHOE
A tattooed man, a seawall in Cadiz, and two Americans murdered in a very vicious way begin your journey to discover what brought about the deaths in Cadiz. So The Olive Horseshoe begins. Howard Wright and James Rogers are Americans on a tour called Moorish Memories. Evidently one or both of them saw or heard something that made them too dangerous to be left alive.
Howardís son Denton Wright has been kayaking in the wilderness and totally out of touch with the outside world. Denton is a billionaire who is trying to come to terms with his relationship with his father and his life in general. When he returns home to New York he is appalled to learn that his father has been murdered half way across the world. Not only has Denton lost his father but his home has been ransacked. His fatherís partner is firing Howardís secretary and close friend.
Before he can really take stock of what has been happening he receives a phone call from Jenna Rogers. Jenna lives in California and is the daughter of James Rogers who met his death in Cadiz with Howard Wright. Jenna insists on seeing Denton immediately. When Denton arrives in California he finds that Jenna has a recording of the murder of their fathers. Jennaís dad was trying to call her at the time of the arrival of the tattooed man and his companion. The line was left open and Jenna and Denton listen to the last moments of their fatherís lives.
Jenna and Denton agree to investigate the deaths and attempt to find out what happened on their fatherís journey that would be threatening to someone. They are aided by Carlos LaJolla, Jennaís employee and trusted friend. Denton calls in Mandy Shattruck, a sometimes lover, but also a very resourceful woman who can be depended on to make the necessary arrangements for the four to conduct their investigations.
Denton is not only worried about seeking revenge for his father but he has also become suspicious of Joe Carsano, his fatherís partner. Denton instructs his attorney to see that the firm is audited.
The four finally decide that they must return to the scene of the crime to discover what really happened. Carlos and Mandy book on the Moorish Memories tour and Denton and Jenna follow them.
The Olive Horseshoe is a book that you will want to read in one sitting. The descriptions of the countries that the group visits and the problems they have to work through being in a foreign country are outstanding. There is always the concern that the people who were behind the murder of Howard Wright and James Rogers are watching their every move.
If you want a really exciting read with excellent characters The Olive Horseshoe is just what you need to read.
While you read check out the pictures on the authorís website to get a view of the exotic locale.
