Reading tarot cards in Berkley is about as exciting as Warren’s life has been lately. His love life with Sally McLaughlin, a paraplegic hacker is running smoothly. Heather Tallbridge who is living with Sally is doing well and Warren’s grandson is a joy. Warren, who suffers from bi-polar disorder, has his medication pretty well under control and life is good.

Then Sally receives some news that throws everyone in turmoil. Dominatrix Therese de Farge has been arrested for murder. Therese stepped in after Sally suffered the accident that left her paralyzed. If not for Therese’s support Sally would never have become the successful, independent woman she is today. Sally is determined to prove that Therese is innocent.

In order to accomplish this goal she assigns everyone a job to do. Heather poses as a journalist and Sally steps out into the corporate world. Warren goes into training to be a bondage and discipline specialist. To add to the stress Warren is contacted by Phillip Letour who is hospitalized and not expected to live. Phillip insists that Warren take possession of a seven hundred year-old deck of tarot cards and pleads with Warren to keep the cards safe. Someone is determined to get the cards and now Warren not only has to train to become Master Ritter but he also has to attempt to protect the ancient cards.

The Hanged Man is a wonderful addition to the Tarot Card Mysteries. The characters are growing in every book and I can’t wait to see what happens in David Skibbins next Warren Ritter novel.
