BOOK REVIEW: RED HOT MURDER
Paavo Smith did not have an easy childhood. After his father died, his mother abandoned him. Paavo was raised by a friend of his parents, Aulis Kokkonen. Aulis was friends with Dr. Loomis Griggs who was in San Francisco studying at the University of California Medical Center. When Paavo was young, the doctor invited Aulis and Paavo to spend time on his ranch. Paavo can remember going there three times. Aulis and Paavo kept in touch over the years.
Paavo is a San Francisco homicide detective. Paavo received a call from Aulis informing him that some troubling things had happened in the town surrounding the death of a former patient, a man in his seventies. Paavo sensed some concern in his voice. He decided to investigate because he knew something was not right - Aulis was not the type to just complain about something like this.
Chef Angie Amalfi is engaged to Paavo. When Paavo asked her to go with him to Jackpot, Arizona she was thrilled at the chance to get away and spend some time with him. Angie also thought this would be the perfect opportunity to find out more about her fiancÚs childhood since Jackpot was where he was raised. Angie also thought this would be the perfect place to have their wedding.
Paavo finds that the death of the man is suspicious and that is enough for him to continue his investigation. As he gets deeper into the investigation, he finds that the town has many secrets. What are they?
Joanne Pence does a great job of creating a recipe for a murder mystery. She adds a little humor, great characters, and suspense that will keep you guessing. Fans will be absolutely delighted with this book. Be sure to add it to your reading list.
