BOOK REVIEW: MAXIMUM RIDE
Reading this book takes you for a “Maximum Ride!” The author stretches your imagination to a certain extent but in reality, scientists of today’s world would be very capable of performing some of these experiments with humans!
Max is one of the humans that had previously escaped the “School” where she and several others, who, like Max had suffered through human experimentation that allowed them to fly. Yes, they actually have wings on their bodies that allowed them to fly very fast anywhere and the ability to fly gets them out of some extremely bad conditions that could have ceased their lives as humans.
Everywhere that Max and her friends go, whether walking or flying, they continually meet up with the “Erasers” that want to hurt or kill them. The Erasers are also from the “School” and were produced to do harm to them in any way possible. The group is afraid to trust anyone that offers to help, afraid that they might be Erasers. It was impossible to escape the Erasers since Max and at least some of her friends had chips implanted by the doctors at the “School” so they could be tracked.
As I read I could imagine I was actually flying, seeing things I would otherwise not be able to see. I would delve into the tunnels and sewers of New York City, fly with huge birds in formation and learn flying tricks from them, and have many other great experiences all across the nation. But all the time being worried I would get caught and sent back to the “School” for further experiments.
This story might sound a bit far-fetched but believe me, it is a great story, one that we all expect from James Patterson. He did not disappoint us. I also like his short chapters, another facet of his writing style, that allows the reader to read a short bit or, if like me, a long read that I did not want to put down. Reading it and seeing that James Patterson has written the next book in this adventure makes me want to read it as soon as possible.
