Rob Castor was a cult celebrity in his early twenties. Rob was known for writing darkly pitched stories set in a New York town. He developed a problem with writer’s block and it was difficult for him to continue his work. His girlfriend was starting to enjoy some success and this did not help the way Rob was feeling. She also became interested in another man and moved out. This is probably what pushed Rob over the edge. About a dozen years later he murdered his girlfriend and then committed suicide.
The media got involved in this sensational story but no one got more involved than Rob’s childhood friend, Nick Framingham. The main core of this story is about Nick Framingham.
The book goes through many of the court documents dealing with Rob’s crime of passion and we begin to learn many things about Nick and what he was thinking at the time.
After Rob’s death, Nick’s life was starting to fall apart. Nick began a process to try and evaluate his own life because his ten-year marriage to his college sweetheart was faltering.
Was Nick obsessed with the death of Rob?
This book takes us on a journey through what Nick was thinking and the many factors that were playing a part in everyone’s mind at the time. The author presents us with a unique set of characters. They each have their own secrets and set of problems. It will be up to the reader to ponder the points the author is trying to make. I would have to classify this book as a dark novel but must admit that it is one that kept me turning the pages to see what was going to happen next. It is the type of story that will stay with the reader for some time. If you are looking for an interesting read that is a little out of the ordinary, this is the book for you. I would recommend it to any reader.
