BOOK REVIEW: THE VAMPIRE OF VENICE BEACH
The delightful McAfee twins return in their latest adventure. Hired by a friend to provide crown control at a vampire art gallery opening in Venice California, Kerry and Terry are startled along with the rest of the onlookers when one of the supposedly fake coffins opens to disgorge a real dead body! Later in the afternoon, after police interviews and press attention, the twins check their phone messages. They are startled when they have a message from the dead woman herself! Curiosity compels them to return the call, and they are even more dumbfounded to hear her familiar voice answer the phone!
With that, the twins are off on another mapcap adventure through present day Los Angeles in Colt's entertaining combination of chick-lit, PI investigation and insightful satire poking fun at much of contemporary life in Southern California.
This round includes fascination with vampires, the cult of Marilyn Monroe, cosmetic dentistry, the present trend in television programming featuring "instant" home makeovers, and whole body tattooing just for starters.
Readers can look forward to another fun read early this spring!
