What does it mean to perception manage? Is this a practice that some people follow everyday – like manipulating the truth and creating the opinion they want as a result?

Nicholas Creel is doing quite well. He heads the world’s largest defense contractor. This is not enough. He can only go so far with the Iraq War and needs something more. What does he do? He hires a man by the name of Dick Pender to perception manage his company. You won’t believe what Mr. Pender does to fulfill his duties!

Dick Pender invents a manipulative scam to create an international conflict. The book opens with an incident on the Internet of a Russian informing everyone how he was tortured and his family had been killed. He wanted everyone to know “The Whole Truth”. The story spreads like wildfire over the Internet. The media gets involved and we all know how that goes – everyone believed the story.

Meanwhile, a man named Shaw might have some ideas of his own about what is happening. He gets in the middle of this mess and with the help of an American reporter, Katie James, they find out some things that will surprise you.

David Baldacci provides the reader with a thriller that will really make one think about how the power of the Internet and using something like “perception management” can influence what the world is thinking and/or believing. This novel also shows how easy it is to influence the media. This book is action packed, the suspense continues to build as you read the pages and has well-defined characters some of which are a little complicated. Be sure to add The Whole Truth to your reading list. David Baldacci will keep you intrigued!
