For fans of George Martin's Game of Thrones comes a truly epic, action-packed fantasy with stunning female leads. A convoluted tale of knights and swords, love and betrayal. Evil is brilliant, handsome, and even seductive, using human nature to deceive, divide, corrupt and conquer. This saga is not for the faint of heart, but for those who want a truly epic story with serious characters and smart, complex plot twists.
The Steel Queen is set in the medieval kingdoms of Erdhe. Eons ago, the War of Wizards scorched magic from the land, throwing the surviving kingdoms into a feudal state where swords rule and women are little more than chattel. Magic is feared and nearly forgotten, although remnants remain like the great fortress of Castlegard whose walls have stood unscathed for over thirty generations and the mysterious Isle of Souls where fortunes bear the ring of truth. The kingdoms are mostly at peace, but the Mordant, sequestered in the far north, seeks to rule all.
Although The Steel Queen is set in a medieval world, the story is very modern, full of political intrigue, fanatical religions, hatred, misogyny, greed, lust, and love, all woven together in complex plots. In this world of swords, it is women who will make the greatest difference. A girl destine to wield a sword, a silver-haired grandmother who wields knitting needles and knives, a brilliantly strategic queen who rules alone, and priestess who wields seduction and poison in a bid for immortality. Each will pit their wits and courage against the looming Darkness to carve their own destiny. This saga will leave you wanting more.

Featured Book - Pretense - Imbroglio Trilogy (Volume 1) by John Di Frances
PRETENSE, reads like a page torn from today’s newspaper, set amid the anti-EU sentiment currently sweeping across Europe. This first book of the IMBROGLIO TRILOGY opens in the Slovak Republic with the assassination of the Prime Minister. From there it moves to Poland with a second assassination only days later. However, the story is far more than just action.
Characters are well developed and multi-dimensional. Although the assassins, two men, and a women, are clearly evil, they are also interesting and in many ways likable, each having his or her own unique personality quirks and each a back-story, which is developed throughout the course of the book. The investigators comprise a team from multiple countries and the national dynamic as well as that between the sexes, adds color and humor. PRETENSE is at its core a story about people. It also raises moral questions, such as the difference between revenge and retribution, when justice is unavailable.
PRETENSE ends with a twist you will not see coming and sets the stage for THE BAIT! the second book in the trilogy.
