A BODY IN THE BATHHOUSE - LINDSEY DAVIS

Macus Didius Falco was in for quite a surprise.  Gloccus and Cotta were hired to remodel Falco's father's bathhouse.   Gloccus and Cotta had the reputation of being unreliable when it came to doing work.  After noticing a very bad odor, which only seemed to be getting worse,  Falco and Pa dug up the floor and found a dead body. A thought crossed Falco's mind - did Gloccus and Cotta flee to Britain?  Falco and his family reluctantly take a trip to Britain at the request of the emperor for help in auditing a building project.  After investigating the project, Falco finds many problems like corruption, fraud and unexplained deaths.  Falco's sister becomes the interest of a distasteful suitor. To make matters worse, Falco soon becomes a target.

This is a great whodunit mystery that is somewhat humorous at times.  The characters are very interesting.  You can almost picture how things were back in the Roman Empire some two thousand years ago.  This is a book worth reading.  You won't be disappointed.
